CARMEL, IN - The Prairie Stars improved on their round one score by 20 strokes on Tuesday in the final round of the UIndy Fall Invitational at the Prairie View Golf Club.
The University of Illinois Springfield women's golf team finished in 14th place with a final score of 666. Host Indianapolis claimed first place with a score of 599.
Senior
Becca Ramirez (Springfield, Ill.) and freshman
Maria Espinosa (Ibague, Tolima, Colombia) fired sub-80 rounds with scores of 78 and 79, respectively. Ramirez led the team with a 31st place finish.
Sophomore
Taryn Pittman (Aledo, Texas) showed the biggest improvement from her round one score, shooting 15 strokes better with an 83. Freshman
Kayla Yn (Arcadia, Calif.) also carded an 83.
Junior
Jocelyn Matsen (Springfield, Ill.) posted a 91 on Tuesday.
The Prairie Stars get next weekend off before traveling to the Quincy Fall Classic on September 27-28.
