SPRINGFIELD, IL - Sophomore Jack Coombes (Auckland, New Zealand) scored two second-half goals to give the Prairie Stars a 4-1 win in the team's first scrimmage of the season.

The University of Illinois Springfield squad got on the board in the 18th minute on a goal from junior Zachary Allevi (Adelaide, Australia). The Prairie Stars made it 2-0 behind senior Manuel Gomez's goal in the 58th minute.

After Lincoln cut the deficit to just one goal in the 62nd minute, Coombes found the back of the net twice in seven minutes to put the game out of reach.

The Prairie Stars are back in action on Sunday in the final game of the Razzo's Pizzeria Springfield Classic against Lincoln Land at 2:30 p.m.
