WATERLOO, Ill. -Â The University of Illinois Springfield women's golf team finished in a tie for seventh at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship Sunday at the Anbriar Golf Course.
The Prairie Stars maintained their seventh place position on Sunday with a score of 344. UIS tied with Bellarmine with a final tournament score of 999 in the first year that the tournament was expanded to 54 holes. Indianapolis captured the tournament title with a score of 912.
This is the second consecutive season that the Prairie Stars have finished in the top seven.
Sophomore
Jocelyn Matsen (Springfield, Ill.) was consistent in all three rounds to finish in a tie for 24th place with a score of 246 (82-81-83).
Becca Ramirez (Springfield, Ill.) carded an 88 on Sunday to finish in a tie for 30th. Her score of 249 was just five strokes better than freshman
Brooke Hill (Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada). Hill shot a 91 in the final round to finish with a score of 254.
Freshman
Carly Hudon (St. Charles, Ill.) and senior
Liz Kesinger (Carrollton, Ill.) rounded out the Prairie Stars' efforts with final scores of 257 and 259, respectively. Hudon posted the best round of the day for UIS with an 82, four strokes better than the average round on the day (86.03).
