SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - Sophomore
Jocelyn Matsen (Springfield, Ill.) and the University of Illinois Springfield women's golf team finished third at the UIS Spring Invite on Sunday at the Piper Glen Golf Course.
The Prairie Stars maintained their third place position from the first day of the tourney with a team score on Sunday of 340, giving them a final tournament score of 669. Washington University-St. Louis captured medalist honors with a score of 639. Washington U.-St. Louis' Olivia Lugar won medalist honors with a score of 151 (78-73).
Matsen led the Prairie Stars with a score of 159. She has finished in the top seven in each of the last four tournaments.
Junior
Becca Ramirez (Springfield, Ill.) and freshman
Brooke Hill (Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada) tied for 13th place with a final score of 169. Hill tied Matsen for the best UIS score of the day with an 83.
Senior
Liz Kesinger (Carrollton, Ill.) carded an 88 on Sunday to finish with a score of 172, good for 21st place. Freshman
Carly Hudon (St. Charles, Ill.) rounded out the UIS team efforts with a score of 179.
Freshman
Jordan Neyens (Pleasant Hill, Iowa) led the UIS individuals at the Invite with a final score of 179.
The Prairie Stars finish up the season next weekend at the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament.
