SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The University of Illinois Springfield women's tennis team closed out its season on a high note with a shutout against Knox College on Thursday afternoon at Washington Park.

Freshman Jane Carter and junior Faith Hook did not drop a set in the No. 1 doubles match, while Danielle Mendoza and Janasha Prabhu paired up for an 8-2 victory in the No. 2 spot. In No. 3 doubles, Hannah Latif and Neena Prabhu grabbed an 8-4 win to secure the sweep.

Carter wrapped up her stellar freshman season with a 6-0, 6-2 win in the No. 1 position and moved to 14-3 for the season to set the UIS single-season win record for Division II. Doubles partner Hook dropped just one set in the No. 2 singles match, while Mendoza also won by the same scores in the No. 3 position.

Seniors Janasha Prabhu and Elizabeth Purcell ended their seasons with victories in the No. 4 and No. 5 matches.

Junior Katie Kirschbaum also grabbed a victory in the No. 6 spot with a 6-3, 6-2 win.

The Prairie Stars close out the season withan 8-16 record under first-year head coach Tom Rees. It is UIS' most wins since 2011-12 season when the squad went 8-8.
