The UIS women's tennis team closed out the 2026 regular season with a 7-0 loss to UMSL on Saturday at home. They fall to 8-11 overall, 1-3 in conference play.
In doubles play,
Ema Norma Bordean and
Niamh Grogan fell 6-2 at No. 1, while
Maria Garcia Gama and
Alisha Deogaonkar were defeated 6-0 at No. 2. At No. 3,
Jane Carter and
Cristina Mendoza Romero dropped a 6-4 decision.
In singles action,
Ema Norma Bordean fell at No. 1, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2. At No. 2,
Cristina Mendoza Romero battled through three sets before falling 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.
Alisha Deogaonkar dropped her match at No. 3, 6-0, 6-2, while
Niamh Grogan fell at No. 4, 6-2, 6-1.
Jane Carter was defeated at No. 5, 6-1, 6-1, and
Maria Garcia Gama fell at No. 6, 6-4, 6-0.
Prior to the match,
Cristina Mendoza Romero was recognized as the program's lone senior. The graduate student has spent two seasons with the Prairie Stars and competed in her final regular-season home match.
