Illinois Springfield Prairie Stars women's tennis enters the final weekend of conference play with two key Great Lakes Valley Conference matches and postseason qualification still in reach.

UIS will face Maryvill at 1:00 PM on Friday and UMSL at 1:00 PM on Saturday. Both matches will be played at Springfield Racquet and Fitness Center.

Senior Day for Cristina Mendoza Romero is scheduled for Saturday at 11:15 AM prior to warmups.

UIS (8-10, 1-1 GLVC) opened conference play last weekend with a 4-3 win over McKendree, where the doubles point proved decisive. Cristina Mendoza Romero continued her strong spring at No. 2 singles, while Jane Carter and Maria Garcia Gama secured wins at No. 5 and No. 6. UIS then fell 7-0 to Indianapolis on Saturday.

Maryville (5-6, 1-2 GLVC) has dropped matches to UIndy (5-2) and UMSL (7-0), but picked up a 4-3 win over McKendree. Friday's matchup will be their final GLVC contest, with both teams needing the result.

UMSL (12-4, 3-0 GLVC) enters the weekend unbeaten in conference play, including a win over No. 43-ranked UIndy and a sweep of Maryville. A victory would be a significant result for UIS.
