The Prairie Stars are 2-1 after defeating Robert Morris Springfield, 101-52, last Wednesday. Freshmen
Bahari Amaya (Harrisburg, Ill.) and
Zach Steinberg (Wildwood, Mo.) posted career-highs in points and rebounds. Amaya scored a UIS season-best 23 points while Steinberg recorded his first double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds.
MORE NEWS AND NOTES- The Prairie Stars are 2-1 after dominating Robert Morris Springfield in the team's home opener last Wednesday. UIS has not played in six days.
- UIS head coach Bill Walker returns for his second season with the Prairie Stars. Last season his team finished 11-16 and reached the GLVC tournament for the third straight season.
- Senior Jamall Millison returns for his fourth and final season at UIS. The Bolingbrook native is on track to be the second player to score 1,000 points in program history.
- Freshman Bahari Amaya burst onto the scene in his third collegiate game, scoring 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting. The 6-4 freshman knocked down four triples against the Eagles.
DIALING LONG DISTANCESeniors
Jamall Millison and
JJ Cravatta return for their final seasons in Springfield. The duo combined to sink 123 three pointers last season. Millison led the GLVC in three-pointers made with 75. The Prairie Stars shot 35.2 percent from long range last season and converted nine or more threes in five games.
DIVISION I OPENERThe Prairie Stars opened the 2015-16 against a NCAA Division I opponent for the sixth straight season. UIS travels to Indiana State later in the season for an exhibition against the Sycamores.
READY TO PLAYSenior
Davi Austin has started the 2015-16 season on fire. After leading UIS with 14 points against Illinois, he is 14-for-22 from the floor with 34 points in the team's first three games. He tied a career-high with 16 points in the Prairie Stars' 82-80 win against Findlay.
THE BALL DOESN'T LIELast season, the Prairie Stars shot 47 percent from the floor and 38 percent from three-point range in their 11 wins. In the losses? UIS converted just 38 percent of its shots and 33 percent of its threes.
COMING UP NEXTUIS travels to Rensselaer, Ind. for the St. Joseph's Tournament. The Prairie Stars take on Hillsdale on Friday, Nov. 27 and then turn around and play Ohio Dominican on Saturday.
SCOUTING THE LIONSThe Lions are 3-1 after losing for the first time this season on Saturday against GLVC-member Missouri-St. Louis, 67-62. Lindenwood started the season with three straight wins including an 82-66 victory against Maryville.
Head coach Lance Randall is in his very first season at the helm of the Lion's program. He spent the previous four years at Division II St. Leo University where he compiled a 78-44 record and earned three trips to the NCAA Tournament.
Since joining NCAA Division II for the 2009-10 season, the Prairie Stars are 0-3 against Lindenwood. Last season, UIS fell to the Lions, 63-72, in St. Charles, Mo.

The only time the Prairie Stars have met the Lions in Springfield was in the 2012-13 season when UIS fell, 89-84.
Senior forward Cory Arentsen is averaging 24.3 points and eight rebounds per game for the Lions. Through four games this season he is shooting 24 percent from the lfloor and has made 11 threes.
