RIO GRANDE, PR - Freshman
Maria Espinosa (Ibague, Colombia) fired a career-best, three-over par 74 on Tuesday to help the University of Illinois Springfield women's golf team finish fifth at the UIS Island Getaway.
The Prairie Stars maintained their fifth place position after shooting a 314 on Monday. In the final round on Tuesday, UIS shot a 319, the fourth-best round of the day, to finish with a 633, four strokes back from fourth-place Arkansas Tech.
For the third consecutive year, Indianapolis won the team title at the UIS Island Getaway with a score of 603. UIndy's Kylie Raines earned medalist honors with a score of 149.
Espinosa shot an 80 on Monday but followed it up with a 74 to tie for ninth place. It was the best round of her UIS career and the second-best score of the day.

Jocelyn Matsen (Springfield, Ill.) finished in a tie for 15th place, just four strokes back of Espinosa with a score of 158. She and freshman
Charlotte Ng (Hong Kong) both shot an 81 on Tuesday. Ng picked up 11 strokes from her first-round score to finish with a 173.

Kayla Yn (Arcadia, Calif.) and senior
Becca Ramirez (Springfield, Ill.) fired identical rounds of 83 to finish with scores of 160 and 162, respectively.
Sophomore
Taryn Pittman (Aledo, Texas) led the UIS individuals with a score of 167 after shooting an 82 in the final round.
