Basketball Closes out 2014 Against Kentucky Wesleyan on Sunday

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team prepares for its final game of 2014 when it welcomes former GLVC foe Kentucky Wesleyan to TRAC on Sunday for a 3 p.m. tip.

Kentucky Wesleyan (6-3) is carrying a two-game winning streak into the contest, but have not played since last Saturday (12/6). UIS is on a three-game winning streak and have not dropped a contest at home to stand at 6-1 on the season. The Prairie Stars are looking for their first win against the Panthers as KWC owns a 7-0 series edge on UIS.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Pathers come into the game with a 6-3 record and beat Salem International on Saturday, a team that averaged 100 ppg until the Panthers ending the run, holding Salem to 65 points. Coming off back-to-back road victories KEN-JAH BOSLEY and C.J BLACKWELL led in scoring with 94 combinded points the last two games. The Panthers are shooting 46 percent from the floor led by  CJ BLACKWELL's 52 percent clip from the floor.

BEST START
The Prairie Stars are out to their best start in the Division II era with a 6-1 start under first-year coach Bill Walker.

NEED THE WIN
UIS is looking for its first win against former GLVC foe Kentucky Wesleyan. UIS has never grabbed a win from the Panthers. Last season, KWC won 71-60 in Owensboro. The last time the teams met in TRAC (Jan. 12, 2013), Kentucky Weslyan took home a 74-61 victory.

CAREER LEADER
Big man Dylan Sparkman is just 11 points away from becoming the career leader in overall points in the Divsion II era.

CONSISTENT-THREE
As the Prairie Stars enter 2014-15, they hope to continue a streak that stretches back 10 years. Illinois Springfield has hit at least one three-pointer in 300 straight games dating back to Feb. 21, 2004 when the Prairie Stars went 0-for-9 from long range.

I'll HELP YOU OUT
Senior KENTRELL KING is second in the GLVC in assists per game and tops the UIS record book in helpers (310). He now has 300 assists and needs just seven more rebounds to become become the lone Prairie Star to have 300 in both categories in the Division II era.

TOO MANY TRIPLES
St. Catharine's 14 treys on Tuesday were the most given up since TRAC opened in 2007.

NOT IN MY HOUSE
The Prairie Stars seven blocks against Lincoln (12/1) were the most since 2010 when UIS stopped nine shots against Findlay.

COMING UP NEXT
The Prairie Stars head out on the Division II Break from Dec. 22 -28. UIS returns in January to begin conference play in St. Louis.
