PUERTO RICO -Â Sophomore
Jocelyn Matsen (Rochester, Ill.) carded an 81 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for eighth place as the University of Illinois Springfield women's golf team placed sixth at the UIS Island Getaway.
The Prairie Stars' final score of 689 was good for sixth place, nine strokes back of fifth place Central Missouri. GLVC-foe Indianapolis won the tournament title with a score of 621. UIndy's Brooke Beegle and Regan Pittard tied for medalist honors with a score of 152.
Matsen led the field with a first round score of 77. She posted an 81 in the tournament's final round to place eighth (77-81-156).
Junior
Becca Ramirez (Springfield, Ill.) matched her first round score of 80 on day two to tie for 12th (80-80-160).Â
Freshmen
Jordan Neyens (Pleasant Hill, Iowa) and
Brooke Hill (Saskatchewan, Canada) carded identical scores of 188 in their first UIS Island Getaway tournament. Senior
Liz Kesinger (Carrollton, Ill.) wrapped up the team's efforts with a score of 197.
The Island Getaway is the final tournament on the Prairie Stars' fall schedule. The team returns to action in the Spring.
