Faith Hook and
Elizabeth Purcell walked away with wins in the University of Illinois Springfield women's tennis 7-2 loss to Lindenwood-Belleville on a gorgeous Wednesday at Washington Park.
UIS slipped up in doubles play, allowing Belleville to take a 3-0 lead, but Hook and Purcell saved their best tennis for singles play. Hook grabbed a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the No. 2 position, while Purcell won her first collegiate match in a hard-fought win in the No. 6 spot. Purcell outlasted Monika Tisdale, 6-4, 7-5 to give the Prairie Stars another victory.
Illinois Springfield continues its dual matches on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at Missouri Baptist. Match time is set for 2 p.m. in St. Louis, Mo.
