Taylor Bauer Named First-Team Academic All-District

University of Illinois Springfield volleyball player Taylor Bauer was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District First-Team today, as selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
Bauer leads UIS with 352 kills and a 2.98 kills average this season. The 352 kills is the most by a Prairie Stars player since the program moved to the NCAA level.
 
Bauer has led the team in kills in 12 matches, and has 20 matches with double-figure kills, including two with 20 or more kills. She also leads the team with 24 matches with double-figure points. She has also recorded 382 points, 132 digs and 48 blocks on the year.
 
Bauer, a 2017 second-team all-GLVC selection, has also excelled in the classroom at UIS. Last season, she earned the GLVC Brother James Gaffney Distinguished Scholar Award, and well as be named to the GLVC Academic All-Conference team.
 
Bauer has helped UIS to its best season in program history. The team will face Rockhurst this afternoon in the first round of the NCAA Division II Tournament.
