The Illinois Springfield women's tennis team opens its fall schedule this weekend at the Drury Invitational in Springfield, Mo., taking on a field that features several GLVC opponents.

The Prairie Stars will compete Saturday and Sunday against athletes from host Drury, Rockhurst, Missouri State and other competition throughout the weekend.

The tournament marks the first competition for a new-look UIS squad, which features three freshmen and one transfer. The weekend will give the Prairie Stars an early opportunity to compete against several familiar conference opponents as they begin the fall portion of their schedule.

UIS has two fall events on its schedule, with the ITA Regional Championships set for Oct. 10-12 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
