The 2025-26 CSC Academic All-District Cross Country and Track & Field Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, were announced in June. The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined accomplishments in competition and in the classroom.
UIS was represented by six Prairie Stars, with three selections from the men's program and three from the women's. Honorees included
Dom Cantarini,
Joey Karlesky, and
Colin Graham from the men's side, along with
Madelyn Miller-Ross,
Josslyn Gaona, and
Marissa Roggensack representing the women.
The award is given to student-athletes who are at least sophomores academically and athletically while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. In cross country and track & field, recipients must also achieve either a top-50 finish at the NCAA Regional Championship in cross country or hold a top-50 regional ranking in at least one track event.
Madelyn Miller-Ross, an elementary education major, added the honor to one of the most decorated seasons in program history. She earned GLVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in both women's cross country and women's track & field after winning the GLVC cross country championship, the indoor 3,000-meter title, and the outdoor 10,000-meter championship. She qualified for NCAA Championship competition in all three seasons and earned First Team All-America honors in the indoor 5,000 meters. During the outdoor season, Miller-Ross held the top 5,000-meter time in the Midwest Region throughout the year while also recording top-10 regional rankings in the 10,000 meters and both the 3,000 and 5,000 meters indoors.
Josslyn Gaona, a sophomore exercise science major, ranked No. 31 in the Midwest Region in the outdoor 10,000 meters and was also part of the UIS women's 4x400-meter relay team that finished the season ranked No. 35 in the region.
Marissa Roggensack, a junior business major, held regional rankings of No. 44 in the outdoor 5,000 meters and No. 48 in the 10,000 meters.
Joey Karlesky, a junior chemistry major and All-GLVC cross country runner, finished the season ranked No. 18 in the Midwest Region in the 10,000 meters and No. 47 in the outdoor 5,000 meters.
Dom Cantarini, a sophomore exercise science major, was ranked No. 34 in the Midwest Region in the 10,000 meters during the outdoor season.
Colin Graham, a junior business administration major, finished the year ranked No. 45 in the region in the 3,000 meters and placed 50th at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championship in cross country.
Athletes with the highest academic and athletic achievements, including Miller-Ross, advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, which will be voted on this summer by a national committee.
