The UIS women's golf team heads into postseason play this weekend at the 27th annual GLVC Championship, held April 17-19 at Rock Hollow Golf Club in Peru, Indiana.
The three-day event begins with 54 holes of stroke play on Friday and Saturday, where the individual medalists will be crowned. This year, each team will play a lineup of six, with the top four scores counting toward the team total. The top four teams after stroke play advance to Sunday's match play semifinals, with the two winners meeting later that day to decide the conference championship.
Indianapolis enters as the reigning champion and a dominant force in the league with 17 titles, having edged UMSL 3-2 in last year's final. UIS made a strong run in 2025, reaching the semifinals for the second time in three years before falling to UMSL 4-1. The Prairie Stars claimed their lone GLVC Championship in 2023.
UIS brings a balanced lineup of experience and new talent. Seniors
Elaine Grant and
Ira Joshi lead the group, competing in their fourth and third GLVC Championships, respectively, while
Lia Rody makes her second postseason appearance. Grant, a two-time All-GLVC selection, has been a key figure in the program's success. She looks to guide the Prairie Stars on another deep postseason push in her final season.
The lineup is rounded out by a trio of newcomers who have made an immediate impact. Freshmen
Yi-Ting Hsieh and
Erin Ahmadfadzir, along with transfer
Valentina Torrealba, will each compete in their first GLVC Championship.
UIS enters the weekend ranked 17th in the regional rankings, currently positioned above the cut line for qualification to the NCAA East Regional.
Live coverage of the event will be available on GLVCSN and Clippd.
