The UIS women's golf team sits in 11th place after the opening day of the UMSL Spring Invitational, hosted at Norwood Hills Country Club in St. Louis. The Prairie Stars posted two rounds of 326 for a two-round total of 652.

Elaine Grant led the way for UIS, finishing tied for fourth after carding rounds of 73 and 74 for a 147. Her consistent play keeps her within striking distance heading into the final round.

Valentina Torrealba is tied for 45th with a 161 (78-83), while Lia Rody sits in 63rd at 168 (83-85). Erin Ahmadfadzir rebounded with an 84 in her second round to finish the day tied for 78th at 176 (92-84).

Competing as an individual, Ira Joshi recorded rounds of 91 and 86 for a 177, while Yi-Ting Hsieh is in 87th with a 179 (93-86).

Grand Valley State leads the team standings at 582, followed by host Missouri-St. Louis (595) and Ferris State (598).

Play resumes Monday at 9:30 a.m. as the Prairie Stars look to climb the leaderboard in the final round.
