Illinois Springfield women's golf opened play at UMSL's Emerald Coast Collegiate on Sunday with a team score of 328 in the first round at the Sandestin Baytowne Golf Course.

Elaine Grant led the Prairie Stars with a strong one-under 70 in the first round. Grant recorded three birdies on the day and posted matching 35s on the front and back nine to pace the UIS lineup.

Valentina Torrealba followed with a 75, while Yi-Ting Hsieh carded an 86. Lia Rody finished the opening round with a 97, and Fizreen Ahmadfadzir added a 102 to round out the lineup.

Competing as an individual, Ira Joshi posted a 78 in the opening round and sits tied for 48th.

As a team, UIS finished the day three strokes behind Drury near the bottom of the leaderboard. Texas Tyler holds the early team lead with a 287, followed by Flagler at 291 and Mississippi College at 296.
