UIS Men's Tennis Hosts Purdue Northwest for Friday Afternoon Rematch

3/5/2026 4:05:00 PM

The Illinois Springfield men's tennis team plays at home Friday afternoon for a matchup with the Purdue Northwest Pride. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m. at Springfield Racquet and Fitness Club.

The teams met in the fall, when Purdue Northwest edged Illinois Springfield 4-3 in a tightly contested match.

Illinois Springfield (5-4)
The Prairie Stars enter Friday's match on a strong stretch, winning four of their last five contests. Three of those victories came against NCAA Division II opponents during the month of February.

Lin En Tan has won three straight singles matches, while three other Prairie Stars are riding two-match singles winning streaks. UIS has also experimented with several doubles combinations recently. Pablo Herrera and Lin En Tan have picked up multiple wins together, while Miran Todorovic and Luke Pennington clinched the doubles point in last week's match with a 7-5 victory at No. 2.

After a busy February schedule, the Prairie Stars appear to be finding momentum heading into the middle portion of the season.

Purdue Northwest (5-3)
Purdue Northwest enters the match with a similar record and had won two straight before falling 6-1 last Friday to Northwood. The Pride's lone point in that match came from Pedro Diaz Camacho at No. 5 singles.

The previous week, Purdue Northwest earned a 5-2 victory over Walsh. The Pride secured the doubles point by winning at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, then added singles victories at the No. 2, No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 positions.
