The UIS Prairie Stars women's tennis team returns to the Springfield Racquet and Fitness Club on Saturday following a dominant 7-0 road victory at Evangel Valor.
The win marked a positive step for a young Prairie Stars roster that has shown steady improvement throughout the early portion of the season. Prior to the victory at Evangel, UIS had not recorded a win since Feb. 6, but several of the team's matches during that stretch were tightly contested, reflecting continued development and competitiveness across the lineup.
A key focus for the Prairie Stars has been starting matches by securing the doubles point, something they executed in the win at Thomas More on Feb. 6.
UIS will face a strong opponent in the Roosevelt Lakers, who enter the weekend with a 5-2 record. The Lakers were 1-2 in their most recent weekend of competition, opening with a 7-0 win over Rose Hulman before falling 5-2 to Hope and 6-1 to UIC.
Saturday's match will provide another opportunity for the Prairie Stars to build consistency and continue the progression of a developing lineup as the season moves deeper into the schedule.
