Illinois Springfield closes the regular season this week with two road contests, beginning Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Liberty, Mo., against William Jewell, followed by a Saturday 12:00 p.m. matchup in Kansas City, Mo., at Rockhurst.
The Prairie Stars enter the final weekend needing a strong showing to clinch a spot in the GLVC postseason.
Illinois Springfield (12-14, 9-9 GLVC)
UIS maintained an even conference record last weekend, defeating Lewis 59-56 before falling 76-70 to Upper Iowa in a pivotal conference standings game.
Offensively, UIS ranks sixth in the GLVC at 67.7 points per game and second in field goal percentage at 36.6 percent. The Prairie Stars lead the conference in three-pointers made at 8.5 per game and rank top-six in free throw percentage at 74.2 percent.
Julia Mingus leads the GLVC and ranks second nationally in three-point percentage at 45.3 percent, while shooting 83.3 percent at the free throw line.
Kayla Rice ranks fourth in the GLVC in scoring and second in steals.
UIS succeeds when it controls tempo and wins the three-point battle, particularly by defending the perimeter. The Prairie Stars also saw strong rebounding production last weekend, including seven boards from
Kennedy Osterman on Saturday, and will look for another balanced effort on the glass.
William Jewell (1-23, 1-17 GLVC)
William Jewell split last weekend, falling to Missouri S&T before earning a road win at Lincoln — its first victory of the 2025-26 season. In that win, Syderah Farmer scored 27 points and Maja Komaszynska added 10 rebounds.
Farmer leads the Cardinals at 11.4 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game. Alex McGarrah averages 8.9 points per contest, while Jalea Price contributes 8.6 points per game. Komaszynska leads the team in rebounding at 4.9 per game.
Though the Cardinals average 51.2 points per game, they rely heavily on the three-point shot offensively.
UIS defeated William Jewell 75-49 at TRAC on Dec. 1, highlighted by a 22-point, 10-steal performance from
Kayla Rice.
Rockhurst (7-17, 3-15 GLVC)
UIS defeated Rockhurst 86-36 in mid-January, placing four scorers in double figures, including 20 points from
Kayla Rice. The Prairie Stars knocked down 14 three-pointers and outrebounded the Hawks 43-16 in that matchup.
Rockhurst is led by Macie Conway at 12.3 points per game and Tori Miller at 11.9 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per game.
The Hawks rank third in the GLVC in turnover margin (+3.83), while UIS ranks second (+4.00), making ball security and defensive pressure key factors in Saturday's contest.
GLVC Outlook
UIS currently sits ninth in the GLVC point rating system standings. A perfect weekend, combined with results elsewhere around the league, including Quincy's matchups, could impact final seeding heading into the conference tournament.
