The UIS Athletics Department presented Phil Coady with the Prairie Star Pillar Award at the UIS Basketball Tip-Off Dinner on Oct. 8, honoring his longstanding friendship, dedicated support and lasting contributions to Prairie Stars Athletics.
For years, Coady has been a familiar and dependable presence at UIS basketball games, volunteering at the scorer's table and running the clock with the precision and attention to detail that have become hallmarks of his work. While his role on game nights has been an important part of his connection to Prairie Stars Athletics, his impact reaches far beyond the scorer's table.Â
"Phil is a true pillar of our athletics program," said UIS Director of Athletics Mike Hermann. "He supports our program in the community by hosting key guests at our games and volunteering his time as the game clock operator for our home basketball games. Phil and his wife, Lois, have also become donors to the AD Excellence Fund, and Phil has agreed to help advise us on the direction of our program. We're fortunate to have Phil in the Prairie Star family!"
Coady's relationship with UIS Athletics has been built through years of showing up, supporting Prairie Stars teams and building connections throughout the UIS community. His genuine enthusiasm for UIS Athletics and willingness to introduce others to the university and its programs have made him not only a dedicated Prairie Stars fan, but also a valued friend to the department.
Coady's relationship with UIS Athletics reflects the kind of lasting connection the Prairie Star Pillar Award was created to recognize. His presence has become part of the fabric of Prairie Stars basketball, but his contributions are not defined by a particular role or task. They are reflected in the relationships he has built, the people he has supported and the enthusiasm he continues to bring to UIS Athletics.
UIS Athletics is grateful for Coady's continued support and the lasting friendships he has built within the Prairie Stars community.
