UIS Women's Soccer Hosts Indianapolis for Homecoming, Travels to Maryville

10/6/2026 12:00:00 PM

Illinois Springfield women's soccer will play a home-and-away week in Great Lakes Valley Conference play, beginning with a Homecoming matchup against Indianapolis at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Kiwanis Stadium. The Prairie Stars will then travel to face Maryville at noon Saturday.

Wednesday's Homecoming gameday will feature tailgates at both the north and south ends of Kiwanis Stadium, Homecoming T-shirt giveaways for UIS students and boom stick and mini pennant giveaways for all fans. The men's soccer team will follow at 6:30 p.m., creating a doubleheader of Prairie Stars soccer.

Illinois Springfield enters the week at 6-4-1 overall and 4-3-1 in GLVC play after picking up a pair of conference wins last week. The Prairie Stars defeated Upper Iowa 7-0 at home before earning a 2-1 road victory at William Jewell.

Autumn Diduch was named the GLVC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after contributing two goals and two assists in the win over Upper Iowa. Her two goals came in a span of less than two minutes, while her four points contributed to four of the Prairie Stars' seven goals.

With the recent wins, Illinois Springfield has moved into seventh place in the GLVC standings, just ahead of Lewis. UMSL, McKendree and Maryville currently occupy the top three spots, while Indianapolis enters the week near the bottom of the standings with one conference win.

UIndy enters Wednesday's matchup at 1-9 overall and 1-8 in GLVC play. The Greyhounds' lone win came Sept. 12 at William Jewell. The Greyhounds have scored five goals through 10 matches while allowing 10 goals over its last two games. Emily DeWitt leads the Greyhounds with two goals, while Mia Bajic and Nicole Schroeder have each recorded a goal and an assist. Samaya Hogg has started five matches in goal for Indianapolis and has recorded 34 saves with a .630 save percentage.

The Prairie Stars will look to maintain their momentum against a Greyhounds team looking to turn its season around.

UIS will face a much different challenge Saturday against Maryville. The Saints enter the weekend at 6-4-1 overall and 6-1-1 in conference play and have won four straight matches.

Maryville has scored 26 goals this season while allowing just eight. Helene Braren leads the Saints with five goals and four assists, while Hailey Scheuer, Ava Ernst, Emily Doane and Kelsey Wentland have each scored three goals. Maryville goalkeeper Agnes Vilen has started all 12 matches and has posted a 1.36 goals-against average with 34 saves and a .694 save percentage.

The Saints currently sit near the top of the GLVC standings, making Saturday's road matchup an important test for the Prairie Stars as they continue their push toward the GLVC postseason.

With the GLVC race intensifying, UIS enters the week inside the league's top eight and in position to compete for a postseason berth. The Prairie Stars will look to protect that position during a challenging week that includes a Homecoming matchup at Kiwanis Stadium and a road test against one of the conference's top teams.

Both matches will be available to watch on GLVCSN. Fans can also join the Prairie Stars at Kiwanis Stadium Wednesday for Homecoming 2026.
