The visiting Prairie Stars did not add another goal but held the 2-1 score through the final whistle.
"Gritty win tonight," said head coach Scott Myers. "We were not as good in moments that we wanted to be, but huge credit to our bench, who came out in the second half and brought a new level of energy to help us get through the tough moments. We created a lot of chances, but we were not clinical enough tonight in front of goal. I'm glad to get another road win tonight, and now we turn our focus to kicking off Homecoming against Indy on Wednesday."
"Overall, the game was a good fight from everyone to keep the win," said Mallory Herber. "It was great to see that we got to have many players contribute tonight, and I'm proud of everyone's effort to go 2-0 on the week."
Herber scored the first goal and led Illinois Springfield with seven shots, including four on goal. Davila scored the game-winning goal and put two of her three shots on frame.Â
The Prairie Stars will host UIndy on Wednesday, Oct. 7, Â as UIS celebrates its Homecoming Week.
