The UIS women's basketball team heads out on a two-game road trip this week, beginning with a BOS Rivalry Cup showdown at Quincy on Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. in Quincy, Ill. The Prairie Stars will then travel to Kirksville, Mo., for a Saturday afternoon matchup at Truman State, tipping off at 1:00 p.m.
Illinois Springfield (5-8, 2-3 GLVC)
UIS sits in the middle of the GLVC standings five games into conference play and is coming off a 60-50 home win over UIndy on Friday before a Sunday bye. After falling behind 26-7 in the first quarter, the Prairie Stars rallied to take a 42-41 lead entering the fourth and closed the game by outscoring the Greyhounds 18-9 in the final period.
Kennedy Osterman led UIS with 19 points, five rebounds, and three assists, while the Prairie Stars shot 42.9 percent from the field.
Kayla Rice, recently named the UIS Jimmy John's Athlete of the Month for December 2025, leads the team at 15.6 points per game, followed by Osterman (12.5) and
Julia Mingus (11.7). Freshmen
Libby Blythe and
Molly Knight also rank among the team's top five scorers, highlighting the impact of UIS newcomers.
Veteran contributors include Rice and
Allysia McDaniel, who is averaging 4.6 rebounds per game against GLVC opponents, along with
Makenna Yeager, who has appeared in each of the last three contests.
UIS is 10-21 all-time against Quincy and 10-14 in conference meetings. The Hawks won last season's matchup at TRAC, retaining the BOS Cup trophy that UIS will look to reclaim. Against Truman State, UIS is 4-15 overall (4-9 GLVC) but earned a 73-50 home win in last year's meeting.
Quincy (5-7, 2-3 GLVC)
Quincy opened the new year with a narrow overtime loss to Missouri-St. Louis, 62-61. The Hawks had multiple opportunities to win in regulation but missed key shots inside, allowing the Tritons to force overtime before edging out the victory.
Quincy rebounded on Sunday with a 64-47 road win at Lincoln, holding the Blue Tigers to just 15 first-half points and 26.8 percent shooting for the game.
Flynn Katey leads the Hawks with 14.9 points per game (179 total points), followed by Acheampomaa Danso (11.1) and Hampton Williams (9.4). Danso, Williams, and Sydney Runsewe each scored in double figures in the win over Lincoln.
Truman State (7-6, 4-1 GLVC)
Truman State enters the weekend after earning road wins at Lincoln (69-56) and Missouri S&T (69-62). Against Lincoln, the Bulldogs trailed by nine at halftime before surging in the third quarter behind Avery Rausch, who scored 11 of her 19 points in the period while going 7-for-7 at the free-throw line.
At Missouri S&T, Truman erased an early deficit, took a one-point halftime lead, and pulled away in the second half with strong three-point shooting and 10-of-12 free-throw shooting in the fourth quarter.
The Bulldogs are led by Emajin McCallop (14.1 ppg), with Lexie White, Mariann Blass, and Morgan Miller also averaging double figures. Miller leads the team from beyond the arc with 20 made three-pointers this season.
