The UIS Athletic Department has hired
AJ Golembiewski as Assistant Athletics Director for Fan Engagement and Revenue Development.
Golembiewski joined the department in August in a similar extra-help role, coordinating fan engagement, promotions and revenue initiatives. He also served as a marketing intern for UIS athletics in 2022-23. While attending UIS, Golembiewski was a pitcher in the UIS baseball program and was a redshirt sophomore on the 2022 team that advanced to the NCAA Division II College World Series.
"As a former Prairie Star student-athlete, AJ has a great passion for UIS," said director of athletics Mike Hermann. "The Lucky Horseshoes leadership team was so pleased with his work with that organization. We found his attention to detail, passion and energy to be a great positive at UIS during the past few months when he joined our team on a temporary basis. I believe we have one of the rising stars in the industry on our team now, ready to lead our fan engagement program to new heights."
Outside UIS, Golembiewski interned with the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes of the Prospect League in marketing and fan experience in 2024 before accepting a full-time position in game-day operations in 2025, honing his marketing skills while building his portfolio of contacts in the Springfield business community.
A two-time UIS graduate, Golembiewski earned a bachelor's degree in business administration in December 2023 and a master's degree in May 2025. In his new role, he will oversee fan experience, promotions and revenue development for the Prairie Stars.
