AJ Golembiewski is a graduate of the University of Illinois Springfield, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in December 2023 and his Master's Degree in May of 2025. Â
AJ began his current role with the UIS Athletic Department in Fall 2025. In 2022–2023, he worked as a marketing intern in the department, and in 2024 he interned with the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes of the Prospect League after spending two years as a player in the organization (2023 and 2024). In 2025, AJ accepted a full-time position with the Lucky Horseshoes in Game Day Operations.
AJ was a four-time GLVC All-Academic honoree during his playing career at UIS. AJ had a 1-1 record in 29 appearances, with 29 strikeouts in 42 innings pitched. He was part of the 2022 Prairie Star team that won the GLVC Conference Tournament, the NCAA Regional and Super Regional, and then went on to play in the 2022 College World Series. He was also a member of the teams that played in the 2021 and 2023 NCAA Regionals.
Prior to his collegiate career at UIS, AJ attended Marian Central Catholic High School in Woodstock, IL where he was selected to the East Suburban Catholic Conference All Conference team in football, basketball and baseball. He was a 2018 Illinois State Scholar, the 2017 5A Illinois Academic All-State quarterback as well as the winner of the Sister Lenore Award as the school's top student athlete.
