This Week in UIS Athletics | Dec. 29-Jan. 4

12/29/2025 10:00:00 AM

UIS wraps up 2025 and rolls into 2026 right back at TRAC with conference basketball action. The Prairie Stars return to competition with a midweek men's game before hosting a GLVC doubleheader against Indianapolis on Friday. Follow along all week at uisprairiestars.com or on @UISAthletics social media.

Wednesday, Dec. 31
1:00 p.m. – Men's Basketball vs. William Woods (HOME)
UIS (7-4, 4-0 GLVC) closes its mid-season non-conference stretch with a home matchup against William Woods (5-9, 2-5 HEART). The Owls, an NAIA program from the Heart of America Conference, last played on Dec. 19, falling 85-74 to College of the Ozarks. William Woods also recently played an exhibition game at Rockhurst, a familiar GLVC opponent. The Prairie Stars opened conference play with a 4-0 start before dropping their last two non-conference contests, including a 79-77 double-overtime setback to Missouri Baptist. Wednesday's game marks the team's return to action after a nine-day break.

Friday, Jan. 2
4:00 p.m. – Women's Basketball vs. Indianapolis (HOME)
UIS (4-8, 1-3 GLVC) opens the second half of the season by welcoming Indianapolis (1-10, 0-3 GLVC) to TRAC. The Greyhounds snapped a skid in their most recent outing, earning a 75-59 home win over Ohio Dominican on Dec. 18. UIndy has faced a challenging regional schedule, picking up one win in its first 11 games. The Prairie Stars last competed on Dec. 18, falling 67-61 to Lake Superior State, but showed momentum earlier in the week with an 87-76 victory over Roosevelt.

6:00 p.m. – Men's Basketball vs. Indianapolis (HOME)
UIS hosts UIndy (5-6, 3-0 GLVC) in a key conference matchup as one team will suffer its first GLVC loss of the season. The Greyhounds are unbeaten in league play with wins over Lewis, Maryville, and UMSL, while the Prairie Stars look to regain momentum coming out of the holiday break.

Both teams enter the game seeking a strong start to the second half of the season in what shapes up as an early conference test.
JERSEY DAY – Rock your best sports jersey at Friday's games!
