UIS Women’s Basketball Returns to TRAC for White Out vs. William Jewell

11/30/2025 3:00:00 PM

GLVC women's basketball returns to TRAC on Monday evening as the UIS Prairie Stars host the William Jewell Cardinals in a White Out game. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and marks the first of three GLVC home doubleheaders this week, with additional games on Thursday and Saturday.

Illinois Springfield (2-4, 0-1 GLVC)
The Prairie Stars are searching for their first GLVC victory after a 68-46 road loss at UMSL on Saturday. UIS shot 34% from the field in the setback but was efficient from beyond the arc, connecting on 6 of 12 attempts. Defensively, the Prairie Stars held UMSL to just 28% from 3-point range, continuing a positive trend of perimeter defense that has limited opponents' production from deep. UIS will look to build on that defensive effort while generating more consistent offense in the paint.

Freshman Julia Mingus has been steady to begin her collegiate career, scoring in double figures in every game this season. Kennedy Osterman has also been a key contributor, leading the team with 14.7 points per game and a team-best 18 made 3-pointers. Mingus (13.0) and Kayla Rice (12.7) are also averaging double figures. Alyssia McDaniel leads the team in rebounding at 5.5 per game while adding 5.2 points on average.

As a team, UIS leads the GLVC in 3-point field goal percentage (45.4%), ranks fifth in steals and sits sixth in overall field goal percentage.

After finishing 4-16 in GLVC play a year ago, UIS is looking to move back toward the eight-team conference tournament. Head coach Olivia Birt is in her second season and has added nine newcomers to the roster, including several freshmen making an immediate impact along with two graduate transfers.

William Jewell (0-4, 0-0 GLVC)
Monday's contest marks the Cardinals' first GLVC game of the season. William Jewell is averaging 53.8 points per game while allowing 74.8.

The Cardinals rank eighth in the conference in 3-point shooting, an area UIS will look to continue to defend effectively.

Juniors Jariah Harris (11.5 points per game) and Syderah Farmer (10.5) lead the scoring effort. Farmer also averages 7.3 rebounds per game, ranking inside the GLVC's top 10.
