The Illinois Springfield women's soccer team will head on the road this weekend looking to finish the 2025 regular season strong. The Prairie Stars, coming off a 1-0 win over Indianapolis on Sunday, will play at Lewis on Friday at 5:00 p.m. before wrapping up the year at Upper Iowa on Sunday at noon.
Illinois Springfield (4-8-3, 3-7-2 GLVC)
UIS nearly shut UIndy down completely in its most recent outing, holding the Greyhounds to one shot while firing 19 of their own, eight of which were on target.
Mallory Herber scored her sixth goal of the season and placed three of her five shots on frame. Senior
Taytum Scarborough also came close to extending the lead, sending several near-misses just outside the posts.
The Prairie Stars have proven steady on the road with a .500 record this fall. UIS holds a 4-9-4 all-time mark against Lewis and is 2-0 versus newer GLVC opponent Upper Iowa.
The GLVC Tournament field is not yet finalized, though UIS sits two games behind the teams fighting for the final three spots. Lewis remains in the mix for a berth, while Upper Iowa is currently at the bottom of the table. McKendree, UMSL, Drury, Quincy, and Maryville have all secured postseason spots, though seeding remains unsettled heading into the final weekend.
Lewis (6-4-5, 5-4-3 GLVC)
The Flyers have dropped three straight matches, all against teams that have already clinched GLVC Tournament bids. Lewis fell 2-0 to Maryville and 1-0 to McKendree last weekend — results that show a strong defensive effort but a recent scoring drought.
Breanna Culver and Morgan Krupp lead the Lewis attack with four goals each, while Jada Harvey adds three. Goalkeeper Jillian Barth played both matches last weekend, recording 12 saves and holding an .800 save percentage.
Upper Iowa (2-12-1, 1-10-1 GLVC)
Upper Iowa comes off a tough weekend with back-to-back 3-0 losses to UMSL and Maryville. Goalkeeper Isabelle Wagner made 17 saves in the Maryville match and is expected to start again this weekend.
Offensively, the Peacocks have struggled to finish chances, averaging just 0.56 goals per game. Giovanna Alexa Garcia leads the team with three goals, while Haylee Allen and Rhea Buchanan have two apiece.
