Illinois Springfield goalkeeper Gigi Yurevich has been named the GLVC Defensive Player of the Week in women's soccer after recording back-to-back shutouts in a perfect weekend for the Prairie Stars.

Yurevich played all 180 minutes as UIS earned a pair of road wins, defeating Lincoln (Mo.) 2-0 on Friday and Missouri-St. Louis 1-0 on Sunday. The Junior from Springfield, Ill., posted eight total saves across the two matches, including six in the win over UMSL, to help the Prairie Stars build their unbeaten streak.

The strong weekend improved Yurevich's season totals to 27 saves, a 1.71 goals-against average, and two shutouts on the year. She earned her first career Defensive Player of the Week award. The last Prairie Star to receive the honor was Allison Mirimanian in October 2024.

Yurevich and the Prairie Stars return home this weekend to host Maryville and McKendree in Springfield.
