University of Illinois Springfield distance runner Court Ross competed in the Ryan Shay 3,000 meter run at Notre Dame's Meyo Invite on Saturday, finishing 3rd in a field of 18 NCAA Division I runners and one unattached runner.
Ross raced to a personal best time of 8 minutes and 9 seconds. It was in the top-10 3,000m times of the weekend across all three NCAA divisions. Ross ran the current No. 21 time in the NCAA, the No. 1 time in the GLVC. He improved seven seconds in the event in the span of one week.
The top runner in the race, Jack Roberts of Illinois, finished in 8:04.29. Sam Rich of Notre Dame was the runner-up.
