The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team overcame a comeback attempt by the Lewis Flyers to win their fourteenth game of the 2022-23 season. It is the first 14-win season for UIS since 2018-19.
The Prairie Stars were able to lead for nearly all of regulation play versus Lewis. UIS led by 20 points with ten minutes remaining in the second half, while Lewis was en route to a 43-point second quarter. The press by Lewis paid off when a jump shot put the Flyers ahead with only 16 seconds remaining. UIS, down 76-73 after sending Lewis to the free throw line, gained an opportunity to send the game to overtime when
Keith Johnson was awarded three free throw attempts. Johnson went 3-3 in his first three free throw attempts of the game. Johnson then collected a block in the final two seconds of regulation.Â

Jordan Rice collected two points, two assists, and a steal in overtime.Â
Jack Weber had a 20-point game, leading the team in scoring and and shooting 10-14 from the field.

Jordan Rice had his first double-double this season with 11 points and 12 assists. The Prairie Stars shot 46.7% from the field and 85.7% from the free throw line for one of their better shooting performances this season.Â
UIS is now 8-6 in the GLVC. The Prairie Stars will be on the road versus Truman State and Quincy next week.Â
