The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team picked up their 15th win of the season and completed the season sweep over the Quincy Hawks with an 84-74 win on Saturday.
UIS made 54.5% of its shots in the contest, including 12 field goals by
Max Kunnert who shot 75%.Â
The teams were slow to start scoring, with a total of 14 points scored in the game after five minutes. UIS then took the lead for the first time thanks to two points by
Max Kunnert. UIS made just 3-of-10 3-pointers in the first half but remained ahead of Quincy who was 0-for-5. The Prairie Stars led for nearly fifteen minutes of the first half, but really took off in the second half by building a lead that Quincy couldn't crack.Â
UIS heated up in the second half, shooting 57.1% from the field and making 7-of-14 3-pointers. The Hawks attempted ten more shots than the Prairie Stars, but were successful in two less.Â
Max Kunnert claimed a career high 33 points versus the Hawks.
Jack Weber and
Michael Wright collected 13 points apiece.Â
The Prairie Stars are now 14-9 overall and 9-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. UIS will be at home next weekend versus Rockhurst and William Jewell.Â
