Hot-Shooting Prairie Stars Take Road Contest at Quincy

The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team picked up their 15th win of the season and completed the season sweep over the Quincy Hawks with an 84-74 win on Saturday.

UIS made 54.5% of its shots in the contest, including 12 field goals by Max Kunnert who shot 75%.

The teams were slow to start scoring, with a total of 14 points scored in the game after five minutes. UIS then took the lead for the first time thanks to two points by Max Kunnert. UIS made just 3-of-10 3-pointers in the first half but remained ahead of Quincy who was 0-for-5. The Prairie Stars led for nearly fifteen minutes of the first half, but really took off in the second half by building a lead that Quincy couldn't crack.

UIS heated up in the second half, shooting 57.1% from the field and making 7-of-14 3-pointers. The Hawks attempted ten more shots than the Prairie Stars, but were successful in two less.

Max Kunnert claimed a career high 33 points versus the Hawks. Jack Weber and Michael Wright collected 13 points apiece.

The Prairie Stars are now 14-9 overall and 9-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. UIS will be at home next weekend versus Rockhurst and William Jewell.
