McConnell Named GLVC Defensive Player of the Week

Senior libero and defensive specialist Amanda McConnell was named the GLVC Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

McConnell had her best game of the season on Friday night versus Upper Iowa by recording 31 digs, 7.75 per set. She also recorded two service aces versus Truman State on Saturday along with 22 digs in the straight sets win.

The Louisville, Kentucky native sits at No. 5 in the GLVC for digs with 226 so far this season, 4.71 per set.

The Prairie Stars picked up two in-conference wins over the weekend to improve to 5-9 overall and 2-2 in GLVC play.

It is McConnell's first career Defensive Player of the Week award. The last Prairie Stars' Defensive Player of the Week was Jailyn Borum in the week of 10/7/19.
