UIS women's basketball took down Maryville by a score of 82-74 in St. Louis on Thursday.
UIS and Maryville got off to an even start until Maryville made a 8-point run in the second quarter. The Prairie Stars, down by nine, made five consecutive free throws to chip away at Maryville's lead.
Ariyah Douglas tied it up with a 3-pointer, then
Brianna Zajicek made a layup to send UIS into halftime 28-26.
Ava Bardic hit 20 points mid-third quarter to tie her highest scoring game this season. UIS had a total of 19 points in the third quarter, and established their second win of the season with a 35-point fourth quarter. UIS went to the free throw line five times in the final minute, making 9 of 10 shots.
Three Prairie Stars scored 20 points or more in the matchup.
Ariyah Douglas was successful in 100% of her eleven free throw attempts on her way to scoring 25 points.
Liz Uhl had 24 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Uhl also collected five steals and an assist.
Ava Bardic tied her season best of 20 points and had the team's best field goal percentage of the night, 61.5%.
Brianna Zajicek and
Saharra Murphy also had points on the board.
UIS will face Missouri-St.Louis on Saturday at 1 p.m. in St. Louis.
