UIS men's basketball outplayed Missouri S&T at home on Saturday to win 87-62 and improve their record to 12-5 overall and 6-3 in the conference. The Prairie Stars are now 9-0 at TRAC this season.
Jordan Rice made his first attempted 3-pointer of the game to set the Prairie Stars off on an 8-point run. Missouri S&T responded with a 5-point run, but could not reconnect with UIS, who led by 10 at the half.Â
UIS outscored Missouri S&T 46-31 in the second half to pull away and secure the win.Â
Jack Weber was the leading scorer with 14 points and a field goal percentage of 80%. Weber is well on track to outscoring his 2021-22 season, with 214 points already in 2022-23.
Jordan Rice and
Max Kunnert scored 11 points apiece.
Jacob Hanna contributed ten points to the score, while also collecting four rebounds, one block, one steal, and a season high of seven assists.
An additional seven Prairie Stars had points on the board in the team effort win over the Miners. UIS and Missouri S&T entered the contest with identical records both in the conference and overall. UIS men's basketball fell to Missouri S&T by just four points in their December matchup to be defeated by the Miners for the first time since 2013. Saturday's win was the third in five days for UIS men's basketball, and an undeniable momentum boost as they head into another week of GLVC competition.Â
