The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team earned an academic honor from the American Volleyball Coaches Association today. The Prairie Stars collected the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award, and it also earned the Honor Roll distinction for being in the top 20 percent of team GPAs in NCAA Division II.
 
The AVCA Team Academic Award is given out to teams that have a GPA of 3.30 or higher for the 2021-22 school year. The Prairie Stars volleyball team had the second-highest team GPA this past year at UIS, as it recorded a 3.66 mark.
 
UIS has now been awarded the Team Academic Award for six of the last seven seasons. The Prairie Stars have earned the Honor Roll distinction three times since 2018.
