Madison DeRousse competed in the 2022 NCAA Division II East Regional this week in Kansas City, Mo. DeRousse finished in a tie for 33rd place out of 81 of the best golfers in the East Region.

DeRousse started her tournament with an 83 through the first 18 holes. On Tuesday and Wednesday, she improved by shooting 77s each day. Her three-day total was 237, which tied for 33rd, including second out of the six individual golfers at the event.

For the tournament, DeRousse had 29 pars and four birdies. She did not have worse than a bogey over her final 31 holes of competition.

DeRousse started on the back nine each day, and found success in her first stretch of the day. She was +7 for the tournament over the back nine. On day one, she struggled on the front nine with a 10-over score, but improved her play on those holes in days two and three by seven and six shots, respectively.

She finished with a 3.25 scoring average on par-three holes, the 14th-best mark in the field. She had one birdie and eight pars in her 12 par three holes. Two of her other birdies came on par-fours, and one was on a par-five.

DeRousse completes her season with a 79.63 scoring average for 2021-22, the ninth-best mark in UIS history for a season. Her career scoring average for her two years at UIS was 79.93, which is fourth all-time for the Prairie Stars.
