The University of Illinois Springfield track and field team had its final tuneup before the GLVC Championships on Saturday. The Prairie Stars won two events at the ONU Invitational in Bourbonnais, Ill.

Breanna Chandler was the top performer on the day for UIS. She won the 800m race, and had a third-place showing in the 200m. The 800m was one of the top races for the team, with UIS also placing fourth through eighth. Those runners were
Morgan Suttles,
Libby Price,
Emma West,
Alexa Thomsen, and
Maggie Von Hatten.

Other top-10 showings on the women's side were
Claire Eaton in the 100m, Price and Suttles in the 200m,
Lexi Throne in the 400m, and
Jade Anderson in the 1,500m.

In the field events, Ellie Shonwiler led UIS with a third-place javelin throw and a seventh-place shot put throw. Kaya De Castro and
Sarahi Porcayo also had top-10 showings in the shot put, and Margaret George was top-seven in the discus and javelin.

For the UIS men, 12 runners had a top-10 finish. Eight of those came in the 5,000m where the Prairie Stars dominated the race.
Wyatt McIntyre won the race, and others in the top-10 were
Ryan Jones,
Noah McIntyre,
Layne Hill,
Blake Jones,
Jake Schwartz,
Chris Cherry, and
Ryan Stark.

In the 800m,
Cayden Kirkham was the top finisher for UIS by coming in fourth.
Ryan Ames and
Anthony Torres were also in the top-10. Torres had a second top-10 showing in the 400m, and
Daniel Amponsah finished sixth in the 100m.

UIS will be in action next weekend at the GLVC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Bolivar, Mo.
