The UIS men's track and field team competed at the Big Blue Outdoor Opener on Saturday in Decatur, Ill., posting several notable performances in middle-distance events.
Freshman
River Derby turned in a top finish for UIS in the 800-meter run, placing 8th in in 2:03.
Lucas Naugle earned a standout result for the Prairie Stars in the 1500 meters, setting a personal best with a 9th-place finish in 4:13.
Isaac Cortes led the Prairie Stars in the 400 meters, finishing 28th with a time of 56.98.
Owen Whelan (29th, 57.45) and
Charlie Borlin (30th, 57.73) also posted strong efforts.
