University of Illinois Springfield women's tennis player Riann Hsu was named the GLVC Player of the Week on Tuesday. She won the award for the second time this year, and it was the third award for the women's tennis program.
 
Hsu went 4-0 last week, helping UIS with two matches and earn a berth into the GLVC Tournament. Playing at No. 3 singles, she defeated her Maryville opponent by identical 6-2 set scores. She lost set one against Lindenwood, but just dropped one game the rest of the way in her come-from-behind win. At No. 2, she and Franca Bucco won both matches. Their 7-3 tiebreaker win helped UIS score the doubles point against Maryville, and the Prairie Star duo defeated Lindenwood by a 6-1 margin.
 
Hsu currently has a team-high 12 singles wins, and she is 12-4 on the year. She also has the best doubles record on the team at 10-5.
