The University of Illinois Springfield women's golf team had one of its best team finishes of the season this week at the Triton Invitational in St. Louis, Mo. The Prairie Stars finished ninth in the 17 team field.
 
UIS had rounds of 339, 347, and 327, for a finishing score of 1013. The Prairie Stars finished ahead of two GLVC teams, tied with another, and was within 11 shots of two more conference foes.
 
Madison DeRousse had two sub-80 rounds, and finished with a team-best 233. She shot a two-over 74 on Monday, and was sixth overall out of 91 golfers. DeRousse had six birdies and 26 pars, and was top-11 in par-three, par-four, and par-five scoring.
 
Isabel Segal and Sara Prieto both tied for second on the team with a 254. Segal shot an 80 for the third round for her best score of the event, and Prieto had two rounds of 81. Prieto had an eagle in round one, taking two shots on the par-four seventh hole.
 
Kathryn Gleason rounded out the team's scoring with a 272. Her best round was an 89 in the second round.
 
The event was the final regular season contest for the team. UIS will compete in the GLVC Championship event on April 22-24 in Waterloo, Ill.
