The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team shot over 50 percent on Thursday night at TRAC, but it couldn't capture a victory over Quincy. The Hawks defeated the Prairie Stars by an 80-74 score.

UIS led by as many as ten in the first half, and had a 44-38 lead at the break. Quincy went on a 15-2 run though early in the second half to switch the game's momentum. The two teams were tied at 61 with seven minutes remaining, but four straight made shots by Quincy were part of a 9-0 run that put the Hawks up for good.

UIS shot 52.6 percent, compared to 48.4 percent for the Hawks. Â Quincy made one more field goal though, and had four extra made free throws. Turnovers were even, but the Hawks took better advantage with a 16-9 lead in points off turnovers.

UIS was led by
Chris Hamil who had 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting.
Chase Robinson finished with 18, and
Jack Weber had 16.
Jacob Hanna and Robinson both had five rebounds, and Robinson led the team with three assists.

The Prairie Stars fall to 9-12 overall and 4-9 in GLVC play. UIS returns to the court on Monday at Lewis.
