Men's Basketball Dominates The Paint But Loses To No. 1 GLVC Squad

The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team fell to the No. 1 team in the GLVC on Monday night in Romeoville, Ill. The Prairie Stars were on the wrong end of a 71-63 decision against Lewis.

UIS outscored the Flyers inside the three-point arc, but Lewis had the advantage at the three-point and free-throw lines. The Prairie Stars shot 64.7 percent inside the three-point line, and had a 40-22 edge in points in the paint. UIS was cold from outside three-point shots, though, and Lewis made 20-of-24 free throws in its victory.

Jack Weber led UIS with 16 points and eight rebounds. He made eight-of-11 shots from the field. Evan Altman finished with 14 points and seven rebounds. James Kelley was also in double-figures with 10 points. Jordan Rice and Kelley both dished out four assists, and Trey Marble had a team-best three steals.

UIS falls to 9-13 on the season and 4-10 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars continue their road trip on Thursday when they visit William Jewell.
