The University of Illinois Springfield track and field team concluded its regular season on Friday night in Jacksonville, Ill. at the Hilltop Classic. UIS won two events, and had nine top-10 individual finishes.
 
Chris Cherry won the men's mile race with a time of 4:13.88. He captured first by nearly four seconds. On the women's side, Alexa Thomsen won the 3,000m. She had a time of 10:58.72, and won the distance race by almost 15 seconds.
 
UIS had three top-10 finishes in the men's 3,000m, with Blake Jones coming in second, Ryan Jones finishing seventh, and Gabe Martinez crossing the line right after Ryan Jones. Trevor Dunkel had a ninth-place showing in the mile.
 
For the women, Libby Price was third in the 800m, and Gloria Esarco was seventh in that event. Breanna Chandler finished eighth in the mile run.
 
UIS will start postseason play next weekend at the GLVC Championships in Indianapolis, Ind.
