The University of Illinois Springfield women's basketball team extended its winning streak to four games on Monday night in Kansas City, Mo. with an 82-68 win over Rockhurst. The winning streak ties for the second-longest for the program since 1999.
Â
The second quarter was a record-breaking one for the program, and also proved crucial in the team's victory. UIS outscored the Hawks by a 21-15 margin in the period, and it took a double-figure lead. Fourteen of those points came from

Rockhurst cut that lead to seven after it went on a 9-3 run to end the third quarter. At the start of the fourth, the Prairie Stars held the Hawks with a point for the first 2:30 minutes. That enabled the offense to go on an 8-0 run that helped UIS take control of the game for good.
