The University of Illinois Springfield track and field program broke two school records and hit two NCAA provisional marks on Friday at the GVSU Bill Clinger Classic in Allendale, Mich.

On the men's side,
Blake Jones won the mile run. He set a NCAA mark and broke the seven-day old school record with a mark of 4:07.24. For the women,
Taryn Christy set a new school record in the 3,000m with a time of 9:50.79. She finished third in the fast race which saw five runners hit in the NCAA mark for that event.

In the men's 5,000m, UIS took three of the top seven spots.
Noah McIntyre was the runner-up in a time of 14:38.
Chris Cherry finished third, and
Jake Schwartz was seventh in the race.

Other top-10 finishers for the women's squad were
Gloria Esarco coming in fourth in the mile, and
Emma West finishing eighth in the 5,000m.

UIS will compete at the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic next Friday in Louisville, Ky.
