Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Chase Robinson Joins 1,000-Point Club Against McKendree

University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball player Chase Robinson became the third member of the Prairie Stars 1,000-point club on Saturday in Lebanon, Ill. His performance was not enough though as McKendree defeated UIS by a 77-69 margin.

Robinson needed 10 points coming into the game, and had five with two minutes left in the first half. He scored a layup with 1:52 remaining, and then hit 1,000 exactly with a three-pointer at the 1:14 mark. He would score 10 more points in the second half to finish with 1,010 for his career. Robinson needed 65 games to reach the milestone, and he is now averaging 15.5 points per game for his three-year career.

That was the biggest highlight as another slow start hampered the Prairie Stars. They trailed 43-29 at halftime, and only cut that lead to within six in the final seconds of the contest.

UIS finished the game shooting 53.8 percent from the field, but they were outrebounded by nine and had one more turnover. McKendree finished with a 42-22 lead in points in the paint, a 17-9 edge in points off turnovers, and a 21-8 advantage in second-chance points.

Robinson's 20 points came on eight-of-13 shooting, including three-of-five from three-point range. James Kelley finished with 16 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Jack Weber was a perfect five-of-five from the field, and had 11 points. Jordan Rice finished with eight points, and he tied with Weber for three assists. Weber also had a team-high two blocks, and Kelley had three steals.

UIS falls to 9-8 overall and 4-5 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars return to TRAC on Thursday night for a 7:30 p.m. game versus Lewis.
