The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team saw its winning streak end at seven games on Thursday night. The Prairie Stars fell to Southern Indiana by a 66-39 score.
Â
UIS had a poor shooting night, especially in the first half. Southern Indiana took advantage in the final five minutes of the period when it went on a 15-2 run, giving it a 29-13 halftime lead. The Prairie Stars shooting did not improve enough in the second half in order for the team to make a run to get back into the game.
Â
Chase Robinson led the Prairie Stars with 13 points, followed by
Chris Hamil with nine. Robinson also had team-highs with four rebounds and two assists.
Jesus Castillo also had four rebounds, three steals, and a block. Other co-leaders were
Jack Weber with four rebounds and Hamil with three steals and a block.
Â
UIS is now 9-7 on the season and 4-4 in conference action. The Prairie Stars have a quick turnaround before facing McKendree on the road on Saturday afternoon.
